As young kids learning to be proper fully grown human, we were put in school and were introduced to the concept of the 4 basic human needs. In the Thai curriculum, that includes; food, shelter, medicine, and clothing. We memorized these objects as essentials that keep us safe healthy and alive.
Over time, the 4 basic necessities remain in the same categories but look and feel different. As civilization progresses, our views on these basic needs shifted. We are surrounded by an abundance of objects that provide mental and physical comfort that we became possessive of things, to the point that we forget their original purposes. This is the effect ‘time’ has on us, but never on the nature of our basic needs.
เราทุกคนคงจะได้รู้จัก เเละคุ้นเคยกับคำว่าปัจจัยสี่กันมาเป็นอย่างดี จากการที่ได้สัมผัสในชีวิตจริง หรือได้ยินได้ฟังมาจากตำหรับตำราสมัยยังเป็นนักเรียน ปัจจัยเหล่านั้นเองถือได้ว่าเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งในการประคับประคองชีวิตของคนเราให้อยู่ภายใต้ความสวัสดี ปลอดภัย เเละเป็นสุขสะดวกสบาย ไม่ว่าจะอยู่ในยุคสมัยใดก็ตามเเต่ มนุษย์เรานั้นก็ไม่สามารถที่จะถูกเเบ่งแยกออกจากปัจจัยพื้นฐานแห่งการดำรงชีวิตเหล่านั้นได้
ถึงเเม้ว่าสิ่งเหล่านั้นจะเป็นสิ่งที่อยู่คู่กันมากับมนุษยชาติตั้งเเต่โบราณกาล เเต่ความต่างของ”เวลา”นั่นเอง ที่อาจจะทำให้มุมมองของคนเราในโลกปัจจุบันที่มีต่อปัจจัยดังกล่าวเปลี่ยนแปลงไป ในโลกที่เจริญก้าวหน้าจากสมัยก่อนอย่างที่ใครก็ตามไม่สามารถจะปฏิเสธได้ ชีวิตของมนุษย์เราทุกวันนี้ได้ถูกรายล้อมไปด้วยวัตถุอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆมากมาย ง่ายที่จะหยิบฉวยเอามาครอบครองมาเป็นของๆตน มันจึงอาจทำให้มนุษย์ในยุคปัจจุบันให้ค่า หรือมองปัจจัยพื้นฐานเหล่านั้นอย่างเเตกต่าง จากคนในสมัยก่อนอย่างสิ้นเชิง

We were all born with equal needs for basic necessities. We need to be fed, covered up and healed. But delicious food, big houses, fancy clothes, and medicine aren’t always equally obtainable. There’s a bargaining value and you always have to give something in return.
And the most universal medium of exchange is money
We earn them in order to provide the 4 basic needs we deserve. We leave our houses to pay for our houses. We burn calories to pay for our next meal. We damage our clothes to pay for the new ones, and we compromise our health to pay for our doctor’s appointments.

Whether or not we choose to admit it, fashion trend is a big part of all age and gender. Our choices of expression are limited to the acceptance of our community.
A sparkly girl gets ready for her first day at work; she puts on her old torn up underwear for comfort, then covers them up with her most expensive outfit and brand new shoes. The ugliest piece of garment is the first thing she puts on and the last that she will take off. It is the piece she holds closest to her delicate body and is never to be seen.

layer ของเสื้อผ้า รูปแบบความทับซ้อนของเครื่องแต่งกายสามารถสะท้อนถึงการสร้างตัวตน นิสัยของบุคคล คือมีชั้น มีความทับถม ตามลำดับก่อนหลังเหมือนกัน นิสัยส่วนที่ลึกลับ และเปราะบางที่สุด ถูกสวมใส่เป็นอันดับแรก ทำให้อยู่ชั้นในที่สุด และได้สัมผัสกับร่างกายของเรามากที่สุด ที่ทับๆขึ้นมาสู่ภายนอก เป็นส่วนที่ถูกหล่อหลอมด้วยสังคม ใส่ไว้เพื่อเข้าหาคนอื่น รูปแบบที่เลือกมาสวมใส่จึงเริ่มตามใจเราน้อยลงเรื่อยๆ ไม่ต่างอะไรกับการหล่อหลอมนิสัย บุคลิกภาพของเด็กคนหนึ่งตั้งแต่เล็กจนโต ที่เริ่มจากตัวเอง แผ่ขยายออกมาเพื่อบิดพริ้วไปตามความต้องการของสิ่งแวดล้อมของเขา

The main purpose of food is to sustain hunger and keep us alive. As time age our society, food received a bigger role. It links people and contributes to relationships between friends, family, lovers or even with oneself. The emotional experiences imprinted with a meal can linger for a long time. A familiar taste might be able to transport you through time.

Shelters don’t only provide roof and walls, but also provide mental protection.
We were once creatures that look for homes in caves or hollow trees and evolved into ones that manipulate materials into houses and condominiums. By that logic, square shapes and walls weren’t always our idea of a home.
For me, a home is an object that covers another object, a rightful place for something. The same way that potato chips live in its package or letters lives in a book.

Time allows the beginning of things and has the ability to take it all away. We as humans have accepted the fact that nothing lasts forever but still, are constantly trying to master that force of nature and invented medication to battle with time.
Fortunately, time leaves marks on our bodies. Wrinkling skins are the ugly proves that time is winning, so we take on that battle too. We try our best to erase the effect of time. Some medicine stops diseases and some reliefs pain, but most of all, they have the power to postpone our ends; death.
